To view a video clip of Radstadt in summer please click
here (It is in German, but it gives you a
good visual idea of the area).
Did you know that Austria has about 700 known waterfalls, with some of
the highest and most impressive in Europe and that there are two waterfalls just
5 minutes from Radstadt.
I have found this interesting web site which gives a lot of information on
Austria's waterfalls
Waterfalls of Austria

Sweet-smelling forests, rushing streams and breathtaking views make for a
fantastic experience. Action-filled holidays are ideal for the body and soul.
Hiking, mountain biking, rafting – we have the right mix of adventure and
relaxation!
If you enjoy active holidays you will enjoy Radstadt.
For your summer holiday there is no place quite like Radstadt, if you and your
family enjoy active holidays, you really should give it a try. In summer time there is no end of things to do, my favourite is to enjoy long
walks in the healthy alpine air of the Austrian mountains. There are many well
signposted walks of both short and long durations, either in the mountains or on
the plateau. Should you decide to go on a
long walk maybe over 2 days or more you can book in at one of the many
mountain huts on route for an overnight stay and enjoy typical Austrian
entertainment and food. It is an experience not forgotten. There are lifts open
in summer for Glacier skiing, hiking & mountain biking etc, tickets can be
purchased at the lifts and are very reasonably priced.
For those of you who are keen golfers, Radstadt golf course is a fantastic
eighteen hole course which also boasts a nine hole practise course, as well as 2
driving ranges and a practise putting course. Our apartment house is alongside
the golf course overlooking hole number 12.
Radstadt golf course is the only golf course in the world with its own cable car, which you need to take after tee 11. This course is a must for keen golfers as well as beginners. The alpine views from the course are beautiful .
For the cyclist this part of Austria is a bicyclist’s dream come true. There
are many easy bike paths for families with children alongside the meandering
rivers or around and through the lovely villages. The Enns Cycle Path from
Radstadt is an outstanding and unforgettable adventure that takes cyclists
through spectacular mountains, emerald green lakes, and dense forests. For the more energetic
there is the Tauern bike path, which cuts through some of the world's most
mountainous terrain, yet it’s almost all downhill. It passes through dozens of
picturesque towns and villages, yet it stays almost totally clear of traffic.
Instead it meanders through alpine meadows and woodland and along the banks of
the Salzach River. And it’s clearly marked, signs at every turn, for worry-free
riding. The path starts in Krimml, elevation 3,400 feet, and ends 100 miles and
2,000 vertical feet later in Salzburg. We can arrange to collect you and your
bike at the end of the ride.
For the really adventurous there is white water rafting, kayaking and canyoning.
There is something for everyone in Radstadt with nine tennis courts plus a tennis pavilion, two riding stables with
indoor riding arenas and tracks, minigolf, asphalt curling, archery, climbing,
biking and of course summer skiing on the Dachstein Glacier.
There are many interesting sights to see during your stay, the historic medieval
town of Radstadt lists the following sights:
Town Parish Church: late Romanesque, with Paul Hofhaymer memorial organ.
Schusterturm: late Gothic lantern of death in the town parish church graveyard.
Capuchin Church and Crypt: with Baroque high altar.
Town Fortifications; 13th century, with fortifications and 3 fortified towers
(1527 - 1535).
Witches Pond and Capuchin Tower: witness to old fortifications and Museum
of Local History.
Schjeikstiege, Metzgerloch, Baderstiege, Sparkassenpassage, Stocklloch,
Graveyard: 6 passages from the town centre to the town walls.
Lerchen Castle: first mentioned in documents in 1298, renovated in 1779, Museum
of Local History.
Loreto Church: Baroque church, for special occasions only.
A short drive will take you to the cathedral town of St. Johann and to the fabulous sights of the the Liechtensteinklamm which is not only the most beautiful, but also one of the longest and deepest gorges in the Alps, full details can be found here: Liechtensteinklamm.
Why not then take time to visit the largest system of ice caves on our
planet. Visit this unique natural phenomenon created by ice and rock!
Eisriesenwelt at Werfen village, a short distance from the ice caves is Werfen castle
which is another must visit place, details of Werfen castle and other nearby
castles can be found here:
Hohenwerfen Fortress. The Salt mines at Hallein makes for a really good day
out, the children will love the miners train into the mountains and the two long
slides which take you down deeper into the mines. There is also a short boat
trip across the underground salt lake. The tour is put together very well
and I would highly recommend a visit to
Salzwelten. All these attractions are between 25 to 45 minutes drive
from the apartments.
Cooling down after an active day hiking or enjoying one of the many sports
available, water enthusiasts will find lots of bathing fun is provided by the
heated alpine outdoor swimming pool with its 40 meter long giant slide.
A perfect day in summer and an end to a hectic day in Radstadt before a nice stroll back to our
chalet apartments
