Fancy a change! - there is a small but wonderful resort called Fageralm just a 6 minute drive or bus ride up behind the large Intersport shop in Radstadt.
Fageralm is unique, as it has lovingly-prepared children’s ski routes: animals from the Fager Forest, Indian trail with original Indian tepee, Viking route, wave slide and boarder cross which provides the perfect practice terrain! The Fageralm resort was awarded the quality certificate entitled "Welcome Beginners" by the Professional Austrian Cable Car Association! This quality seal of approval guarantees a high-quality service with promotions tailored specifically to families, and ski school courses on the Fageralm.
Radstadt and the Ski Amadé ski area is suitable for skiers and boarders of all abilities old and young, whilst being ideal for families. Ski Amadé is a vast undiscovered ski playground and only a short drive from Salzburg airport.
The collection of five regions is named in honour of the city’s most famous
son Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It is skiing on a grand scale a symphony of 860km
of piste, 270 lifts and 25 resorts. All of the areas are massive in their own
right Salzburg Sportwelt, Grossarltal, Schladming Dachstein, Tauern Gastein, and
Hochkonigs Winterreich. It is impossible to ski them all on the same holiday but
there is nothing to stop you trying!!
The area is served by some of the most modern lifts anywhere, state of the art
gondolas and sixseater covered chairs. Every single slope is on the same lift
pass and access is so easy with Radstadt being in the centre of it all.

Our apartments are only 850 metres from the main 8 man cable car on the same
road. On the map this lift is the bottom left corner named Unterberg.
When you have skied over the top and down to the Altenmarkt car park there is a free shuttle bus that takes you to the Zauchansee resort and from here there are a number of linked resorts that you can ski covering a wide area.

There is a smaller but truly wonderful resort on the outskirts of Radstadt
called Fageralm, to view the piste map for Fageralm please click

Fageralm has some lovely runs and there is always a lot of powder up there. From
Fageralm car park there is a free shuttle bus to the start of the massive
Schladming area.

This will show you some of the local resorts you can ski on the same lift pass.
Not shown and to the left of Radstadt are the large international resorts of
Obertauern and Schladming.

You will be able to see Radstadt marked on the top left of this map. Obertauern
is a high resort (2700 metres) so most of the skiing is above tree line.
Obertauern is 12 to 15 minutes drive on a straight road directly from our
apartments. The free bus stops at the road adjacent to our apartments.

This is a another massive ski area, just 10 minutes from the apartment by car
and you are at the Reiteralm lift and at the start of this huge area.
There are so many ski resorts locally it would take ages to tell you about them all so we have put links to them on our links pages. Having looked at the information above you will hopefully start to see what a gem of an area the Chalet apartments are located in the middle of, and best of all, the major British tour companies have still not picked up on this area, so prices are about 15% cheaper in this region than the Tirol in Austria, and about 20% cheaper than the French resorts. All the resorts have picturesque villages and superb facilities. The mountain restaurants offer a large range of meals from between 10 to 17 euros and they are immaculate including the toilets. These are the cleanest and most well kept resorts I have visited. nearly everyone working at the resorts speak English as this is a pre-requisite of employment in the Austrian tourist industry.
